GP services are now widely available online. Nearly 14 million NHS patients across England are now using secure online services with their family doctor to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions and view their records.
In the private sector, this has been taken a stage further – providing online GP consultations via your PC, mobile or tablet. A private GP… available 24 hours a day… accessible via your pc, mobile device or tablet. That’s the reality of private healthcare in 2018. In the past couple of years, there’s been an expansion of online private GP services. By paying an annual membership or a small fee for a one-off consultation, you can now speak to an online GP through a video consultation. You can consult with a GP, get a private prescription delivered to your local pharmacy or direct to your door, and, if necessary, get a referral letter to a specialist for further investigation. The GPs are all NHS qualified and the online services are monitored by the Care Quality Commission. Secure encryption ensures that your medical record, consultations and data are kept confidential. If you wish, you can opt for your NHS GP to receive information about your online consultation, but it is not a requirement.
